Everybody in my wedding is shaped unique & the style I like won't look good on some of the bridesmaids because they weigh over 300lbs & it just wouldn't work. Can I have the identical color wedding dresses uk but let them pick out there style?
I work as a bridal consultant, and this is a problem we come up against all the time. To answer your question simply, of course let them choose their own types that work best with their particular body type! I would have the Prom Dresses all be precisely the same length, floor length is best, if you go shorter though, have them a certain height from the floor (while wearing shoes.) Also, if you go shorter, I'd suggest having them wear precisely the same shoe, at least during ceremony and photos, I even like bridesmaids to wear the exact same shoe if they're wearing a long dress. This will help them look like a “group” when they're standing together, and of course will look best in the posed photos. David's Bridal or any salon that carries the Alfred Angelo line are good choices, because both have probably the widest colour selection inside the widest range of sizes.
Most definitely! I think it makes a wedding much more unique and cute having the bridesmaids all in various style but same colour dresses! However, that being said, I would make them show you the style they want first. If you don't like it, make them choose a different style. After all, it is your wedding.
For my sister's wedding, all the bridesmaids had a different calf length dress style, but used the identical 2 fabrics (blue crinkly fabric and blue lace). My dress had a sweetheart neckline with a handkerchief hem. My sister's friend (more than 300 lbs), had a square neck and straight, calf length hem and her other friend had a V neck with a lettuce edged hem. Each dress looked great on each of us and yet, still matched.
Of course they can! Anyone who says any various is stuck inside the past. I have been to so many weddings where the bride has just told the bridesmaids the color and to pick whatever dress they liked so long as it was that colour.
Definitely! As women come in all shapes, one dress type can't suit all. I mean of course you wouldn't want them outshining you either. But finding something that fits their individual sizes and body shape is important.
Actually, Kristin's kind of wrong here… They don't have to be REALLY simmilar to work.
Plenty of brides choose to do this either because they have the same issue as you or because they simply like the look.
You can absolutely have precisely the same color dresses but let them pick out the style that looks best on them. I would suggest having them have the identical general length dress however. For example, don't have one girl in a floor length gown and another in an above-the-knee style. Choose the color, choose whether you want long or short, and then let them pick out the dress.
I would also just like to say that I think it's really thoughtful of you to consider your bridesmaid's body types here. It's not necessary as you're the bride and it's your wedding, but I'm sure they really, really appreciate your thoughtfulness on this matter! I know I would!
